Another Music Thingy

In this blog, I'm going to talk about what I believe the meaning is to the song "Behind Closed Doors" by the same artist from my last music blog, Rise Against. I believe that this song is trying to convey a message of protesting and rebellion, and how these things helped our country (and others) progress in certain instances. Some lines from the song that lead me to believe this are "Chairs thrown and tables toppled. Hands armed with broken bottles, standing no chance to win, but we're not running, we're not running." along with, "About the time we gave up hoping
we'd ever find these locks still open, stumbling on stones unturned, the hurt we feel, we all have earned." also, "The lines we cross in search of change, but all they see is treason." and finally, a set of lyrics which is repeated throughout the song, "Although we have no obligation to stay alive on broken backs we beg for mercy, we will survive". To me, I see the song as an attempt to relate to all the large (and even some small) movements throughout history, and how the people who contributed to the cause had to protest, riot, and rebel to get their ideals recognized, and even in times of hardship, they didn't give up, and they kept their dreams alive. And this whole message is portrayed through the art of music, in this song. At least in my opinion it is.
