The art of making movies is progressing rapidly with all the special effects, computer graphics, etc. For making movies, I personally see the director as the artist, the actors as his models, the world around them, the computer graphics, cameras, and everything else that they use, as the directors tools. The director has a vision and he wants to "paint" that vision on the movie screen, using everything that he has available to him. A lot of times he has to "re-paint" a part of his picture (movie) until the scene ends up being just right. When the director is finished with his art work, most of the time it ends up in the movie version of a gallery, the movie theaters, all over the place. Some movies get shown all around the world while others only get shown in certain countries or certain theaters. But either way, the art work that the director, his models, and his "tools" have created, ends up somewhere that they can be appreciated as a piece of art.
